Staff Spotlight - Martin Gilmour

Martin our marketing man lets us know about a few of his favourite things.

What is your role at ESE Direct?

I am the Marketing Manager

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spending time with my young son (he’s 16 months old, so his current favourite hobbies are emptying kitchen cupboard, strawberries and pointing at ducks) and playing music in a couple of local bands.

Who are you listening to at the moment?

I’m listening to a fair amount of 80’s at the moment, plus some old favourites such as They Might Be Giants and Rancid.

What was the last book you read?

I’m currently reading Sunnyside by Glen David Gold.

What is your favourite film/last film you saw?

Toddlers and movie watching don’t really mix, so lately it’s been anything where you don’t need to listen too closely to the dialogue. Favourite film? Tricky one, I'd love to say something brooding and intellectual, but I think I’m going to have to go for Ghostbusters.

If you could have dinner with 3 people living or dead who would it be and why?

• Nikola Tesla - Mad as a badger, but very clever and probably pretty entertaining
• Levon Helm - Great musician and always told a good story
• Jim Henson (as long as he bought Rowlf with him) - Pure genius and responsible for the majority of the great TV of my childhood

What is your hidden talent?

Someone once told me I had pretty good intonation, which I thought was nice.
